"0x" is the prefix indicating hexadecimal notation, serving as the foundational identifier for every address, contract, and transaction within the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem. It is the uniform starting point for digital identity. This work examines the transition from personal names to cryptographic fingerprints.

The prefix flattens social hierarchies into a singular, technical standard. It represents the point of origin for all on-chain activity, from sovereign wealth to decentralized artifacts. Within these two characters lies the potential for total ownership. Signing a transaction is the modern equivalent of a physical seal—an act of creation and intent. 0x is the silent architecture of authorship in a trustless world.
