Stan means devoted, sometimes obsessive fandom. Named after Eminem's 2000 track about a fan spiraling into tragedy, it flipped from cautionary tale to badge of honor. You can stan someone (verb) or be a stan (noun). The term reclaimed what was meant as warning and made it celebration.

People love it because it gives permission for unfiltered enthusiasm in a culture that punishes caring too much. It's self-aware enough to wink at its own intensity. Worth documenting because it shows how communities take their pathologies, name them, and wear them proudly.
