somewhere _ is not a formal technical term or category. Flight normally depends on exact coordinates and precise measurements, yet from the passenger’s perspective,  geographic specificity can disappear. Somewhere names that suspended condition between departure and arrival.

From an aviation perspective, the term is interesting because it introduces ambiguity into a field built to eliminate it. Long-range flight often produces a strange disconnection from place. A business jet collapses geography through speed, privacy, and access, turning the world below into abstraction. At the scale of an aircraft window, somewhere _ becomes a counterpoint to the machinery of navigation. 

Art historically, the work shifts the series away from a pure glossary of aviation terms and into a more conceptual register. Like Ed Ruscha’s word paintings, Jenny Holzer’s declarative texts, or Lawrence Weiner’s language works, it uses a single phrase to destabilize context. The trailing underscore suggests a prompt awaiting input or a destination not yet resolved. Set against painted skies, gradients, or cloud vistas, the word becomes both literal and metaphysical. It is a place, a mood, and a refusal to be fixed.

Unique work, mounted to float on a shaped panel finished in automotive paint. Signed and dated on an affixed label. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity and embedded RFID authentication chip.

Materials
Automotive paint, acrylic, polymer  and varnish on sealed engineered wood fiber panels. Executed with proprietary airbrush and silkscreen techniques.
